Mijn familie komt uit Afghanistan
Mijn Famlie komt uit Afghanistan is a children's book that introduces Dutch children to Afghan culture. The protagonist, Amir, who now lives in the Netherlands introduces us to his family and tells us a little about Afghan life and culture. I had the honor of illustrating this book.
For this project, I listened to the sweet sounds of the Rubab, learned about the Kuchi Nomads, feasted on Afghan cuisine and marvelled at the beautiful attan dance. All in all, I ended up learning quite a bit about the richness of Afghan culture myself. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to do so.
